Business Context

Clinical reference material that has to be reached quickly, and only by the right people.

Ambulansa is a clinical reference portal in Faroese. Its sign-in screen states what it holds: secure access to patient groups, medication, algorithms and operational guidelines, and access to ambulance guidelines. That is working reference material for ambulance and emergency care, where the right guideline has to be found fast and trusted once found.

Material of that kind does not belong on an open website. The portal places all of it behind authentication: a user signs in with an email address and password and can recover a forgotten password from the same screen. What lies behind the sign-in is available only to those users.

The Challenge

Give a defined group of users fast, secure access to clinical reference content — patient groups, medication, algorithms and guidelines — from one place.

Authenticated access

Every part of the portal is behind a sign-in. Access had to be controlled without slowing down the people who need the material.

Four kinds of reference content

Patient groups, medication, algorithms and operational guidelines are named as the portal's areas. Each is a different kind of reference material, and the portal had to hold all of them under one sign-in.

Ambulance guidelines

The sign-in screen also names access to ambulance guidelines as a purpose of the portal, alongside the clinical reference areas.

Faroese, and simple to enter

The portal is presented in Faroese. The sign-in had to stay simple: email address, password, and a way back in when a password is forgotten.
